The topics are examined highlighting the progress towards gender equality (SDG 5) and the room for improvement in financial services with implications for policymakers, regulators and researchers in both finance and gender studies. Giuliana Birindelli is a Full Professor of Financial Markets and Institutions at the Department of Management and Business Administration, University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy, where she teaches Financial Markets and Institutions, and Banking and Finance. She obtained her PhD and post-doctorate degree in Economics at the University of Pisa, Italy. Antonia Patrizia Iannuzzi is an Associate Professor of Financial Market and Institutions at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, Italy where she teaches the Economics of Financial Intermediaries and Management of Banking and Insurance Institutions at the Department of Economics, Management and Business Law.
